Matt Hopkins- Head Coach

Coach Hopkins has been a part of the Houston County Baseball program for 12 years. Graduating from Washington County High School in 2003, where he was an All-Region/Area pitcher. After high school, Coach Hopkins attended Brewton-Parker College, where he pitched for two years. Coach Hopkins then transferred to Georgia College & State University where he earned a History degree, followed by a Master’s in teaching. Coach Hopkins is married to Kasey Hopkins and has three children: Ellie 8, Jase 5, and Georgia 2. 

Jared Allen-Assistant Coach/Outfielders

Coach Allen is a 2007 graduate of Toombs County High School. He attended Georgia Southwestern State University were he earned a B.S. in History as well as playing four years of Hurricane baseball. Coach Allen comes from Dodge County where he taught U.S. and World history for 3 years as well as serving as Head Baseball coach for the Indians for 3 seasons and assistant varsity football coach. Coach Allen currently works as an A.P./Honors US history teacher at Houston County, Head 9th grade football coach, and assistant varsity baseball. Coach Allen is happly married to Megan Allen, since June 2011. They have one son Kadence (2)

Chris Harrelson- Assistant Coach/Hitters

Coached high school baseball for 18 years. Played at Liberty University before transferring to Brewton-Parker College. 2010 Region 1 AAAAA coach of the year. Has coached team Georgia in 2009, 2010, and 2015. This will be Coach Harrelson’s 4th year on staff where he specializes with hitters.

Graduated from Northside High School in 2014. 3 year varsity letterman. Following graduation Ethan played college baseball at Georgia Southwestern, Snead State, and Reinhardt University. Ryan Joyner Special Assistant to the Coaching Staff

Coach Joyner was born and raised in Warner Robins and came to HOCO as a student from 2002-2008.  Coach Joyner brought his baseball expertise to the team starting in 2005 and became a permanent staff member upon graduation in 2008.  Coach Joyner serves as a mentor to the young men on the team and helps keep the morale of the team and coaches positive.    Known as the million dollar man or mdm as he likes to call himself, Ryan obtained the nickname because of his love of the game of baseball (and WWE Wrestling) and the winning spirit he brings to the game.  In addition to his undying support and devotion to Hoco Athletics, Coach Joyner is a member of Shirley Hills Baptist Church, where he is a co-teacher of the 11th grade men Sunday School.  In addition to Hoco sports, he loves the Georgia Bulldogs, Atlanta Braves, New York Mets, Atlanta Falcons and WWE Wrestling .
